Friday, August 9, 2013 (kick-off party for riders plus one guest)
4 - 9 p.m.
Gas Works Park
2101 N Northlake Way, Seattle, 98103
Grab a guest and kick-off Obliteride weekend in style at a quintessentially Seattle venue, Gas Works Park. You'll raise a boat-load of money for cancer research, the least we can do is throw a (well, several) knockout party to say thanks. Come early and hang out enjoying the landscape, delicious local fare, and some of the best wine and brews our region has to offer. Of course we’re inviting inspirational story-tellers and energizing entertainment to make this inaugural event even more memorable. Don’t worry though, we know you have to ride the next morning, so we’ll have you out of there early enough to catch your beauty sleep. This event is free for registered riders plus one guest.

Plan to arrive at Magnuson Park no later than 7 a.m. to find your place in the chute and grab a quick bite. We’ll start Obliteride promptly at 7:30 a.m. A light breakfast will be provided including great coffee (I mean, this is Seattle!). We’ll all start together as we ride to end cancer – there’s a palpable energy of starting together that can’t be described, only felt. If you’re riding the 25-mile, Pagliacci 50-mile or KING 5 100-mile route, you’ll return to Magnuson Park for a full finish line celebration. Encourage your family to join you at Magnuson Park to cheer you on as you finish and then stay to enjoy the post-ride party!
If you’re participating in the 180-mile (2 day) ride, you’ll finish the first 100 miles of your ride on Saturday at the beautiful campus of University of Puget Sound in north Tacoma. We expect riders will start arriving at UPS around noon and we’ll be there cheering all day as each rider passes through the chute. Upon arrival at Puget Sound, you’ll check-in, shower up, and get situated in your dorm room. Then join us on Todd Field for a fantastic celebration. Your registration fee gets you an overnight in the dorm and a great finish line celebration including BBQ, a beer garden and entertainment. When you’re ready, simply walk to your room, crash out, and we’ll see you on Sunday.

After a good night’s sleep, you’ll fuel up with a full breakfast at University of Puget Sound in preparation for the second leg of your journey. Taking a different route home on Sunday, you’ll finish where we started, at Magnuson Park with another full finish line celebration – more food, beer and entertainment, and you better believe, a massage tent will be waiting for you after 180 miles in the saddle. Bring your fans to celebrate with you – what a weekend.
